Rabbi Dovid Schochet, President of the Toronto Rabbinical Council and a member of Vaad Rabbonei Lubavitch, will be undergoing surgery on Thursday.
Rabbi Schochet, world renowned for his genius Torah knowledge and his great depth in Torah learning, has been in poor health and a notice called the surgery “life saving.”
It is scheduled for Thursday morning, which is the 17th of Tammuz, a day of fasting over the breach of the walls of Jerusalem which led to the current exile.
“Please take a few minutes after davening to say a few chapters of Tehilim for his full recovery,” the notice said.
Suggested Tehillim to recite: Chapter 20, Chapter 119-Psukim for Daled, Vov, Daled, and Chapter 150.

I learned with him 45 years ago. I was a camp counselor and we had a Shiur with the Rov at Lubavitch on Bathhurst.
We will daven.
He farhered me for smicha around 15 years ago and he fathered me for dayonus around 8 years ago.
I went to Shul at Osolkes before Rabbi David Schocet came there.I was at Eitz Chaim on viewmount..Later I went to Ner Israel in Baltimore before going to Israel enlisted in the IDF in Sinai in the 70,s spent 10 years in Sinai.Watched as PM Menachem Begin give it all back to Egypt.Came back to Toronto.Hooray no more wars with Egypt.Since I knew David Shockett his brother Joe who worked for the Reichmans at Olympia I wish him a refua Shalimar.May Hashem protect him and grant him a speedy recovery.
May I suggest that along with reciting Tehilim we take on special mitzvos in honor of Rabbi Schochet. I will give extra tzedaka every day along with recital of Tehilim, having Rabbi Schochet’s compete recovery in mind.

Not only does gantz Lubavitch need him but the gantz velt need him too because he answers complicated shaylos from the entire world and from all communities.
In תשט”ז he was personally chosen by the Rebbe MHM to be the shliach to Toronto. Besides being the Shliach and Rov, he also established in Toronto a Talmud Torah Bais Yosef which is listed in Hayom Yom among the Rebbe’s institutions.
