Chabad of California will be hosting its 35th annual L’Chaim-ToLife! Telethon, one of the most watched Jewish event of the year with hundreds of thousands of Jews tuning in from across the country and even many more across the world watching it on the web.
Ahead of Sunday’s telethon, Head Shliach Rabbi Boruch Shlomo Cunin has been spearheading the Telethon for all these years and he is the energetic force behind this huge Kiddush HaShem.
For many Jews, the Telethon serves as their annual reminder that Rosh HaShanah is just a few days away. It inspires these Jews to seek out a local Chabad Center and join them for the Yomim Noraim with the hope that they will come back throughout the year and participate in more Jewish events.
This year, the Telethon will have a special focus on support for our brothers and sisters in Eretz Yisroel. In light of the recent disastrous deal being put forth between the US and Iran, Chabad has stepped up its efforts of support for the safety and security of Jews in our Holy Land.
Just a few weeks ago, during the final days of summer camp, Rabbi Cunin travelled across Southern California and visited many of the Chabad camps. During the course of those few days Rabbi Cunin inspired thousands of children with words of chizuk and, as the Rebbe taught us to do during times of difficulty, he brought them together with Torah, Tefillah and Tzedakah in honor of the wellbeing of our fellow Yidden in Eretz Yisroel.
Some of the summer camps Rabbi Cunin visited were Camp Gan Israel of the Valley directed by Rabbi Nachman and Elkie Abend, Silver Gan Israel of Long Beach directed by Rabbi Yossi Rapoport and Camp Gan Israel of Hancock Park directed by Simi Raichik.
