Chovevei Torah Yeshiva in Crown Heights has announced new and changing staff positions in the Yeshiva.
The Yeshiva will be making staff changes in light of the announcement this week that the Yeshiva’s Menahel, Rabbi Mendel Blau, has been hired as the new Menahel Roshi of Oholei Torah Yeshiva in Crown Heights, a position which he will begin at the beginning of next school year.
In a letter to parents, Rabbi Blau said that he was honored to lead Chovevei Torah Yeshiva for the past 10 years, and acknowledged the important need for the Yeshiva, known for its warm and personal approach to chinuch, to continue to flourish.
Yet, Rabbi Blau said, he also sees how the community’s Chinuch needs are growing and has been shown “the importance of helping the community at large.”
Before filling his new role, Rabbi Blau vows to ensure that Chovevei Torah continues to prosper and flourish.
“For this year, I will continue to oversee Chovevei Torah. My focus will be to facilitate a smooth transition period. This will ensure that the quality chinuch that you learned to expect will continue now and for years to come, b’ezras Hashem,” he wrote.
“Next year, I will remain available to supervise the respective Hanholos as they navigate the critical needs of the Yeshiva. Afterwards, I will remain on the Vaad Kloli of Chovevei Torah.”
In the same letter, he announced various new positions being filled in the school’s faculty.
In the Achei Tmimim division, Rabbi Levi Tzukernik will continue to lead as principal, and new faculty members include Rabbi Avrohom Dovid Losh and Rabbi Yehuda Fenton. Rabbi Yaakov Weiss from Pittsburgh has joined the staff this year as a Maggid Shiur.
Maggidei Shiurim include Rabbi Shlomo Chaim Kesselman, founder of the highly acclaimed Machon Semicha, Rabbi Yossi Paltiel, the world-acclaimed mashpia, and Rabbi Peretz Kaplan, a brilliant teacher who forms strong connections with bochurim.
In the Tomchei Tmimim division, Rabbi Zushe Winner is the Rosh Yeshiva and Rabbi Shlomo Sternberg is the Mashpia of the yeshiva. Rabbi Yisroel Labkowsky, Rabbi Binyomin Baras and Rabbi Sholom Ber Lipsker guide the talmidim in their Limmud HaTorah and Darchei Hachassidus.
Rabbi Chaim Polter has been announced as the interim Segan Menahel of the Tomchei Tmimim division of the Yeshiva.
“I am confident that this powerful lineup will help our yeshiva prosper and reach even greater heights than before. I am certain Chovevei Torah will continue to flourish, b’ezras Hashem,” Rabbi Blau said.
