Rabbi Aryeh Laskey, a beloved husband, father and educator from Detroit, MI, passed away on Wednesday night, 6 Tishrei, 5781.
He was 65.
Rabbi Laskey attended the Yeshiva Hadar Hatorah in Crown Heights, the Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch in Morristown, New Jersey, and later the Central Tomchei Tmimim Yeshiva at 770 Eastern Parkway.
Originally from Los Angeles, Rabbi Laskey was known as a kind and giving person, who worked as a Rebbi for many years. In the 1980’s, he was active in running the Released Time program in the area, and brought many children to visit the Rebbe in Crown Heights.
In recent years, he moved to Detroit, Michigan, where he also took on communal roles, serving as the Gabbai of his Shul and being the caretaker of the 2 local Eruvim, as well as many other responsibilities in the community.
R’ Laskey was known as a person who loved life, and did everything with a ‘chayus,’ imbuing a chayus and life to all the Mitzvos.
A devoted father and grandfather, despite facing many challenges at the end of his life, until his last day, he never stopped going and doing everything he possibly could for his family, a family member said.
He is survived by his wife, Chana and children, Necha Salazar, Boonya Laskey, Dun Laskey, Bayla Laskey, Dovid Laskey, Bassheva Laskey, Mendy Laskey, Elka Laskey, and Mushka Laskey, and grandchildren.
A fund has been set up to help the family during this difficult time.

The levaya will take place Friday at 10 am in Detroit.
The laskey family will be sitting shiva following the levaya at their home, 26020 Woodvilla Pl, Friday, Motzei Shabbos and Sunday.

We need moshiach now!!
He was my bunk dalet counselor in camp Gan Yisroel Parksville in 1974. I remember being extremely home sick and he was there to comfort me. He was a very caring person. I will share a very personal story. At the time it was normal to make very scary color war break outs. None of the staff thought of how traumatic it would be for little kids. As part of the break out they pulled all the kids out of bed in middle of the night and made everyone lay down on the basketball court. They told the campers that… Read more »
