R’ Yishay Kalachy, a Lubavitcher Chossid from Crown Heights who was active in several local Shuls, passed away on Friday, 7 Tishrei, 5781.
He was 69 and battled an illness.
Raised in the northern Israeli agricultural Moshav called Meitav, near Afula, his family held a close connection with the Shluchim in the area, including Rabbi Avrohom and Sarah Rivka Sassonkin and R’ Avrohom Donin.

He learned at the Central Yeahiva Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch at 770 Eastern Parkway, by the Rebbe. After his marriage, R’ Yishay built a home in Kfar Chabad and later moved to Postville, Iowa. Wherever he lived, he was an unwavering source of inspiration and a beacon of light to all those around him. He was a shining example of limud HaTorah and doing Mitzvos b’hidur.
R’ Yishay was loved by all who knew him, an embodiment of Chassidus teachings and a life of Torah.
In recent years he lived in Crown Heights. He was very active in the local Shuls Bnei Shlomo Zalman – ‘Frankel shul’ and in Kehilas ‘Anshei Moshe.’
