“Chatzkel Der Geller” as he was affectionately known, was the embodiement of a Baal-Shemsker-Yid in the plain and full sense of the word. When you look in the early years of the Rebbe’s leadership you will find him in many pictures very close to the Rebbe, especially in the Sefer Mekadesh Yisroel (the album of pictures where the Rebbe was Mesader Kidushin). One could see that this chassidishe yid had a love for learning Torah.

He and his wife were my Shabbos hosts when i was an out-of-town kids learning in NY. I am grateful for their hospitality. May they both have a lichtigen Gan Eden.
