R’ Mordechai Goldberg, a longtime teacher and resident of Jerusalem, Israel, passed away on Monday, 29 Kislev, 5774.
Rabbi Goldberg was a teacher for many years in Talmud Torah Chabad in Jerusalem, teaching many generations of students.
Born in Israel, a 7th generation direct descendant of the Alter Rebbe, Rabbi Goldberg merited many yechidus meetings with the Rebbe, who always told him, “Never forget that you are an ‘einikel’ of the Alter Rebbe.”
“He was a very kind person, a real baal chesed, always ready to help anyone he could,” a family member told COLlive.
He was married to Tzipporah, (nee Tenenbaum) and together they raised a family of Chasidim, many of whom are Shluchim around the world.
He is survived by his wife Tzipporah and children Mrs. Malki Eisenbach – Jerusalem, Mrs. Itty Vakshtock – Petach Tikvah, Mrs. Miri Lehrer – Kfar Chabad, Mrs. Sari Steigman – Flatbush, NY, Mrs. Nechami Kahana – Kfar Chabad, Rabbi Shimon Goldberg (teacher in Oholei Torah) – Crown Heights, R’ Eliezer Goldberg – S Petersburg, Russia, Mrs. Rivka Kanelsky – Moscow, Russia, R’ Yitzchok Zev Goldberg – Scranton, PA and Mrs. Gitty Brod – Beitar Illit, and many grandchildren.
The Levaya took place on Tuesday in Jerusalem. Shiva is taking place in Jerusalem.
