On his visit to Moscow, Russia, Rabbi Yitzchak Dovid Grossman, Rabbi of the city of Migdal Haemek and president of the Migdal Ohr educational system visited the Shaarey Tzedek Chessed Center.
This center was founded by Chief Rabbi of Russia, Berl Lazar, for the indigent of Moscow, and today serves as the address for any help, support or medical aid for Moscow’s Jews. Its sprawling building boasts a huge soup kitchen, modern medical facilities, various classes and clubs for seniors, free loans of medical equipment, food basket distribution, various free loan societies and chevra kadisha services.
Rabbi Grossman received a guided tour of the center and was amazed by the numbers of people coming through its doors throughout the day. The center is opened every day of the year.
At the Bris Center, he was honored by being sandek for a university student, along with the Jewish University Dean, Rabbi Sholom Dovber Goldberg.
Rabbi Grossman wrote of his impressions in the center’s guest book and blessed the directors and workers there with much success in their holy work.
Chabad has nothing comparable to this in New York or anywhere in the U.S. as far as I am aware. Hopefully because heretofore it wasn’t needed. Amazing institution and equally amazing dedicated supporters. Yasher Choach, Moshiach Now!
