In this episode, we explore the life of Rabbi Eliyahu Chaim Althaus, a devoted Chossid of the Rebbe Rashab and the Frierdiker Rebbe, deeply trusted and closely involved in managing the fiscal needs of the Rebbe’s household. Known for his heartfelt singing at the Frierdiker Rebbe’s farbrengens, he often sang a niggun that came to be associated with him. He accompanied the Frierdiker Rebbe during his exile in 1927 and was the official shadchan for the Rebbe and Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka. Tragically, he was killed by the Nazis in Riga during the Holocaust. Eyewitnesses recount that, in his final moments, he danced with fellow Chassidim, as the Nazis set the shul ablaze.
