R’ Efraim Dov Ber Majeski, a resident of Flatbush and son of a well known Lubavitcher family, passed away on Sunday evening, 26 Nissan, 5780.
He was 74.
Reb Efraim was the eldest child born to Reb Yaakov Yehudah and Chaya Majeski, a daughter of the famous chossid, Reb Yisroel Noach (“haGadol”) Belinitzky.
His father, Reb Yaakov Yehudah, was the menahel of Bais Rivka in Crown Heights for many years until his passing in 1973/5733. Yaakov Yehudah came from Shedlitz where he lived before the war. He was a talmid of Rav Elchonon Wasserman, HY”D, at the Baranovitcher Yeshiva in Belarus. Somehow, he escaped the Nazis and made his way to Samarkand, where he developed a close connection with Reb Yisroel Noach, before marrying his daughter.
R’ Efraim DovBer was born in Samarkand and was named after the father of his zeide Reb Yisroel Noach. He and his parents were able to escape Russia and make their way to Paris and then to New York.
He was a talmid of the Lubavitcher Yeshivos, who maintained a close connection to Lubavitch and the Rebbe, and sent his own children to Tomchei Temimim. A talmid chochom in his own right, R’ Efraim was a staunch supporter of Torah learning and hafatzos hamayanos.
A devoted family man, he made a point to share in all of the extended family simchos and gatherings, even during the past year when he was not well. He always had a Torah vort to share with his signature beaming smile.
He is survived by his wife Sara Mirel (nee Rosenfeld), and children, Rabbi Yakov Yehudah Majeski of Baltimore, MD, Moshe Majeski of Five Towns, NY, Rabbi Yisroel Noach Majeski of Los Angeles, CA, Elchonon Majeski of Waterbury, CT, Yissachar Majeski of Brooklyn, NY, and many grandchildren.
He is also survived by his siblings Mrs. Chana Lipskier – Crown Heights, Rabbi Shlomo Majeski – Crown Heights, Mrs. Yocheved Lipskier – Crown Heights, Mrs. Devorah Munitz – Buffalo, NY, and Rabbi Chaim Majeski – Crown Heights.
Baruch Dayan Ha’emes.
