Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his wife Laureen Harper hosted a Menorah lighting ceremony at their home in honor of Chanukah.
It was a rare scene at 24 Sussex Drive, the official residence of the Prime Minister of Canada, located in the New Edinburgh neighborhood of Ottawa, Ontario.
A delegation of Chabad rabbis from across the country gathered there to celebrate freedom over oppression and truth over evil, a stance Harper is familiar with in his unwavering defense of Israel.
The Prime Minister delivered an address just prior to the lighting of the Menorah, and was very vocal in his support of Israel and the Jewish people.

It is an exceptional thing in Jewish History for the Jewish people to have a head of State who is as outspokenly protective of Jewish People and Israel as our PM of Canada. I wish our PM knew to what degree the Jewish community of Canada are behind him and appreciative of him and the bold stance for truth that he has taken.
