Israel’s President Reuven (Ruvi) Rivlin wrote a public letter to the Chabad-Lubavitch community in honor of the 19th of Kislev.
The day marks the Rosh Hashana of Chassidus as the yartzeit of the Maggid of Mezritch and the day of liberation of the Alter Rebbe, founder of Chabad.
“I have merited to be a descendant (from my mother’s side) of Chabad Chassidim who immigrated to Eretz Yisroel and guardians of the Jewish settlement in Chevron,” Rivlin wrote.
He mentioned the patriarch of his family, R’ Elye Yosef Rivlin, a choosid of the Alter Rebbe, that the Rebbe has encouraged publishing the seforim that he wrote.
President Rivlin wrote that “the Chabad movement, and all of its Shluchim and Shluchos, does holy work on behalf of the nation of Israel, the Torah of Israel and spreads Judaism everywhere.”
He credited Chabad with “connecting and bridging all parts of the nation in every place and spreading the light of Ahavas Yisroel, the internal light, the light of Chassidus.”
No miracle. This letter was due to the dedication and hard work of Rabbi Eliyahu and Chani Canterman, Shluchim of Talbiya/Mamilla to whom the original letter was addressed. In addition the President included all Chabad Shluchim.
