Postville Mesivta Buys Building

Postville, Iowa is buzzing with the news that Yeshivas Beis Sholom has just purchased a brand new building to be a dormitory for the Bochurim.

The new building is a strong, durable and commercial building that can handle many years of Bochurim’s “lebedikait”. It will allow the Yeshiva to house the current Bochurim more comfortably, expand its horizons and accept many more Bochurim than in years past.

“We came a long way,” Rabbi Eli Benshimon, principal of the Mesivta, told COLlive. “We are looking now at some small renovations and updates to make it suitable for the Bochurim to move in.”

Many are looking at this as a beginning of a renewal and new start for the Jewish community of Postville, as this is the first sign of expansion that the Jewish community has seen in years.

The purchase of the building was made possible in part thanks to a grant by Mr. Heshy Friedman, owner of Agristar.
