The city of Postville is currently in crisis, as former Agriprocessors employees struggle to survive without income. Local store shelves remain empty, as owners cannot afford to purchase new stock. The community of Postville is very isolated, and residents cannot afford to travel the distance necessary to obtain food and other necessities.
A committee was organized to arrange an emergency food collection drive, and is urging Crown Heights residents to donate food and other staples. A donated truck is currently stationed at the corner of President Street and Kingston Avenue, and will transport food staples to Postville on Friday.
The committe is asking for the public’s assistance in the food drive, companies that can donate large quantities of food would be greatly appreciated. They hope to raise funds for a refrigerated truck as well, in order to transport dairy items to Postville, which they currently do not have.
Donations can also be given at www.postvilleemergecyrelief.org
Is someone going to drive that all the way to postville?
