Brandon Florida is a family friendly middle class suburb of Tampa. Unlike South Florida with it’s many Kosher restaurants, Shuls, Jewish day schools and large Jewish community, there are no Kosher restaurants and Shuls, the closest Jewish day school is an hour away and the Jewish community is small, mostly unaffiliated and intermarried.
15 years ago Rabbi Mendel and Tzippy Rubashkin moved there on Shlichus and founded Chabad of Brandon with the goal of being there for every yid in every way possible. Over the years, Boruch Hashem, the impact on people’s lives has become obvious. What Brandon may be missing in quantity it makes up for in quality with a number of individuals and families learning and observing more Yiddishkeit than they ever thought possible.
One example is Jonathan Benjamin, who grew up with no knowledge of Yiddishkeit, to the extent that he didn’t have a Bris as an infant. Through a series of events guided by Divine Providence he decided to have a Bris at the age of 28 and has come to discover how relevant the Torah is and the way it enhances day to day life.
Wednesday, August 8, Chabad of Brandon will be a hosting a men’s rooftop BBQ featuring Wagyu beef and Craft beer. During the event, Jonathan will share his inspiring story of how regardless of one’s current circumstance it is never too late to begin on the journey of a better tomorrow. Whether you are you looking for some inspiration, to enjoy superb beef, world class beer or to support a good cause, this event is for you.
