The Sicha Yomis project which started over 26 years ago, was the idea of Reb Tzvi Hirsh Gurary who is a Mashpia at the Yeshiva in Montreal Yeshiva.
After Gimmel Tammuz, he felt that a great way to strengthen our Hiskashrus to the Rebbe would be by listening to the Rebbe’s holy voice every day.
That’s how the daily sicha project started. The idea was to identify a sicha or a few parts of a sicha that connects to that day, either to the chitas of the day, rambam or the upcoming yom tov or yoma depagra. The length of the daily sicha is approximately 10 minutes.
Many Yeshivos around the world play the daily sicha after mariv and the bachurim get printouts of the transcript so they can follow along. Some Anash Shuls play the daily sicha between mincha and maariv or after maariv.
The daily sicha can be played online, via their app, all the major podcast apps like spotify etc., and on the telephone by calling the “chassidus on the phone” phone number.
Up until this past gimmel Tammuz, only people who understand Yiddish or Hebrew were able to follow along with the daily sicha. Hebrew was an option because the sicha transcript was translated into hebrew. For English speakers it was a challenge.
This all changed when one of the regular listeners was inspired to raise the money to have the daily transcript translated into english by a professional translator. Now, anybody who understands English can listen to the daily sicha and follow along with the beautifully translated transcript.
This is great for people to listen to, on the go. Whether on the way walking to shul, work etc. on the subway or in the car, it’s only 10 min and really uplifts your day.
Now approaching Yud Aleph Nissan when every Chosid is looking for more ways to strengthen their Hiskashrus to the Rebbe, this is definitely a great way to do so.
The daily sicha project would also like to encourage people to please get involved and have their local shul play the daily sicha between mincha and maariv or after maariv. The shul can print out the transcripts in yiddish, hebrew and english, a few copies of each, so people can follow along as the sicha plays. The transcripts can be accessed for free by clicking here https://thedailysicha.com/download.
As we stand in the year of Hakhel, when the King would speak to the Yidden and inspire them to strengthen their connection to Hashem, there is no better time than now, to listen to our king, so we can strengthen our connection to Hashem.
The website to access the daily sicha is Thedailysicha.com You can also download the daily sicha app on your phone by going to the app store.
