For several years, a number of sponsors have subsidized the cost of NCFJE’s kapparos for Crown Heights residents. Crown Heights real estate developer Yossi Popack has undertaken to bring some relief to holiday visitors to Crown Heights.
“We’re very grateful that Mr. Popack has once again taken it upon himself to help the orchim to prepare for Yom Kippur,” said Rabbi Shea Hecht, Chairman of the NCFJE.
Subsidized Kaparos for Yom Kippur 5778 will be held this Thursday, at Beth Rivka on the corner of Montgomery & Nostrand, starting at 7 pm (shechita begins at 9 pm). Kollel yungelight will receive an additional discount.
Kaparos will also take place at 824 Eastern Parkway, at 8 pm (shechita begins at 10 pm).
While the NCFJE has ordered enough chickens to accommodate the community, the organization warns not to wait to the last moment, as unforeseen shortages have occurred in the past.
Chickens are available on a first-come-first-serve basis only.
