Philanthropist R’ Yossi Popack, who along with his wife, Batsheva, support many causes in Crown Heights including food coupons distributed by Ahavas Chesed, has pledged to continue his support of the organization which helped so many.
Immediately following the Shiva for Rabbi Avraham Lieder, the founder of Ahavas Chesed which provided a soup kitchen and later subsidized food coupons for the needy in Crown Heights, Yossi Popack called Rabbi Lieder’s children for a meeting.
In the meeting with Dovid Lieder, Popack pledged his continued support of the food coupons which provide nourishing hot meals for the hungry in the neighborhood, many of whom have no other means of obtaining food.
The food coupons are one of the many initiatives which Ahavas Chesed, led by Rabbi Lieder, provided to thousands, including assisting in medical referrals, making house calls, and providing regular transportation to medical visits and therapy sessions and organizing life-saving blood drives.
On the first night of Rosh Hashana, Rabbi Lieder, the great heart behind the “Ahavas Chesed” organization, who for 35 years dedicated his life assisting others with medical emergencies, literally saving lives of thousands, suddenly passed away at the age of 61.
A fund has been launched at charidy.com/rabbilieder to raise $1,000,000 for the Lieder family. Every donation makes a difference.
We ask that you please join and give to a family amidst grief. Your gift helps the Lieder family know they are neither alone nor forgotten by their community as they navigate tremendous loss.
