When I would visit Gush Katif, and specifically Neve DeDeKalim, where Rabbi Kirszenzaft lived, I met a lot of people, who told me how he was well loved by everyone. I made a point of visiting him. I don’t remember all that much, but I do remember he took me to his small library that was popular with students. I was told by residents of Neve DeKalim how they enjoyed his alternative to sirens before Shabbos. Instead of having a Shabbos siren blasting the announcement of the arrival of candle lighting time.
