The elementary school girls of Gan Academy visited Mrs. Miriam Slavin, the daughter of Horav Yitzchok Dovid Sholom and Rebbetzin Gittel Mincberg. Mrs. Slavin’s father was Mashgiach Ruchnie of Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin.
The students heard about Mrs. Slavin’s life before, during and after World War II. Listening to how she survived the Holocaust with her family was fascinating and imbued the students with a sense of gratitude and appreciation for the life they live.

WOULD LOVE TO HEAR HER LIFE STORY! TAPE HER!
Mrs Slavin is a very special woman
its an amazing amazing story!!
Young visit the older in their homes. Win, win, win. Olders don’t have to travel. Olders feel like they matter. Youngers learn. Would love to see more of these visits arranged by all schools to many older folks who have much to give and get from such visits.
Mrs Slavin is an incredible inspiration to the girls. Her life story is full of lessons in hashkafa that every child can benefit from. She spoke about her life and her family and conveyed messages of emunas Hashem, mesiras nefesh for Torah and mitzvos, and inspired a sense of pride in being a yid and a chossid. It’s important for everyone to hear these stories, especially our children and we greatly appreciate Mrs Slavin taking time and making the effort to have us, as well as for all the positive love and attention she gave the girls.
What a gift to our children
