Dr. Alexander Poltorak was trained as a theoretical physicist in Russia. He is Chairman and CEO of General Patent Corporation. He served as an Assistant Professor of Biomathematics at Cornell University Medical College, as an Assistant Professor of Physics at Touro College, he guest-lectured at Columbia University School of Engineering and Business School.
He is presently affiliated with the CUNY serving as an adjunct professor of physics at the City College of New York and Research Fellow at the Institute for Ultrafast Spectroscopy and Lasers. Alex Poltorak authored several books and many articles. He blogs about physics, kabbalah and Jewish philosophy.
In a new web video series titled “Quantum Torah,” he dispels the prevailing view that Torah and science usually don’t mesh very well together.
“The Midrash, an ancient repository of rabbinic wisdom, suggests that when God created the world, He looked to the Torah to serve as its blueprint,” he said. “If this is the case, shouldn’t the world have some resemblance to the blueprint—the Torah?”
In the first episode of Quantum Torah, Dr. Poltorak shows a glimpse of how modern ideas of quantum physics beautifully mesh with the ancient Torah.

Did I read correctly??? We are classifying the Torah as “ancient”??? how is such a terminology even allowed to appear on a Lubavitch website, our whole motto is that the Torah is alive and current within our times to live by. I hope this was just a unintended oversight, we should be careful and exact in our writing, for some it could plant this terminology, applied to Torahs Chaim literally in their minds.
Here is a first-hand example of what Quantum Tunneling is all about. Rabbi Levi Yitzchok of Berditchev & the Alter Rebbe were approaching a narrow doorway, each insisted that the other walk ahead. When it became clear that neither would dishonor the other by taking the lead, the chassidim broke the walls on either side, widening the doorway so they could pass through together. Said Rabbi Levi Yitzchak, “Why break the wall? We have the power to simply walk through it!” Responded Rabbi Schneur Zalman, “Not everything that is within one’s ability does one need to act on.” Quantum Physics… Read more »

Quantum physics is the most compatible way with Torah and Chassidus to explain Maaseh Beraishis the entire creation. While I love Dr. Poltoraks video, his example for quantum entanglement is not halachically accurate. Another I believe more accurate example I would give for Quantum entanglement i.e. “Quantum entanglement is a physical phenomenon that occurs when pairs or groups of particles are generated, interact, or share spatial proximity in ways such that the quantum state of each particle cannot be described independently of the state of the other, even when the particles are separated by a large distance.” Is the hiskashrus… Read more »
