Was that enough snow that the schools were closed? Even in Montreal?
Yes!
Being a alumni student I remember back in 2013 and 2015 major snow blizzards hit Montreal i walked early that morning to Yeshiva – it was still OPEN and we had a FULL day while all the other schools were closed I remember i couldn’t see any cars because they were covered in button to top with snow – only in Montreal!
Yeshiva was open. Bais rivkah closed. All city schools closed today. Was impossible to walk even on the sidewalks. The snow is waist deep after this snowstorm on top of last Thursday’s snowstorm. It’s a mess. But bh we’re all ok.
“If communism couldn’t shut us down, then even this snowstorm won’t stop us. Kol Hakavod to all the Talmidim, and especially to the Rabbaim, who made it to Yeshivah despite the storm.”
Skools were closed Thursday & Monday!!
A Chiddush!
NOT YESHIVA- TOMCHE TMIMIM! Ably led by Rabbi Shmuel Kaufmann
1954. I read there was 74 cm of snow from what I remember. Matel Rena Tobin
It was 25 inches Sunday and 16 Thursday
I wish Crown Heights has so much snow. I’m jealous
Snow offers a serene feeling similar to what my Zaidy describes from Russia. When i told him that it’s cold and i did’nt want to make the trip to go learn torah, he laughed and said that this is the weather in which he used to go to the mikvah. He encouraged to say a small l’chaim to warm me up. I made my way soon thereafter to my tutor to learn the Bar mitzvah Ma’amer. The next day, me and my friend Chaim Eli farbrenged about this beautiful story.
Ahhh, brings back memories of the harsh winters growing up in Montreal!
We waited patiently as the radio anouncer on CJAD would go through the list of closed schools and finally say “Beth Rivkah Academy is closed!” Snow day!!!
