Last night, for the 31st time, the stage of the prestigious Lincoln Center Hall in Manhattan lit up with the Jewish music industry’s most well-known concert “A Time for Music.”
The annual concert was held to salute the composers of Chasidic music through the years, and as part of the concert program, the composers and artists joined to perform their hits together.
This year’s star performer was the great Chasidic singer Avraham Fried, who opened show and performed his biggest new hits alongside the old ones. He accompanied the famous composer and arranger Moshe Laufer for a medley of hits he composed for him over the years.
One after the other, the leading Chasidic singers from the United States came to the stage, including Shalshelet with a string of hits and also performed a new song for the first time from the new CD that will soon be released with the orchestra conductor Moshe Laufer.
Melech Kahn performed his hit song with a new musical adaptation by Yoeli Dickman. Ari Goldwag performed a string of popular melodies under the direction of Maestro Yoeli Dickman. New talent Simcha Leiner performed accompanied by composer Yochi Briskman.
Later in the show, the chairman of the HASC concert committee invited the producer of the concert for the third year, Eli Gerstner, who sat at the piano and performed his hit “Daddy Come Home”, accompanied by the Yeshiva Boys Choir.
Finally, the great Chassidic singer Avraham Fried performed his hit song “Bring the house down,” after which the conductor, Yuval Stopel, gave the signal for the orchestra begin the famous melody of Rabbi Baruch Chait, “Avraham Yagel.”
The concert’s finale was performed by Avraham Fried performing another string of hits, joined by all the artists as well as the evening’s producers and heads of HASC for a joint dance.
A special moment of the show was when the singer Avraham Fried began to sing “Baruch Habah Melech HaMoshiach,” and the Rebbe’s picture appeared on the giant screen.
