A unique photo exhibit about the Rebbe and chassidic life in Crown Heights has garnered more attention than organizers have anticipated.
“770 Through Yossi’s Lens,” which includes never-before-seen pictures of the Rebbe taken by the late photographer Yossi Melamed, will be on display longer than planned.
“Boruch Hashem, due to overwhelming requests, the Melamed exhibit is to remain open until Sunday, 18 Tammuz / July 8,” a curator at JEM (Jewish Educational Media) has notified Friday.
The Israeli-born Melamed spent hundreds of hours photographing the Rebbe between the years 1975 and 1992, many times the only cameraman in Lubavitch Headquarters in Brooklyn.
His collection contains tens of thousands of photographs of the Rebbe at Davenings, Farbrengens, Kos Shel Bracha, Lekach and Sunday Dollars. Highlights of his work are shown at 362 Albany Avenue.
The numerous pictures and different angles of his cameras capture a true feeling of each scene of the Rebbe, JEM said. The photos on display are available for purchase and can be done on site.
Hours of operation:
Friday: – 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Sunday – 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM

I visited when I was in NY and I was stunned by the pictures, one after the other. So many beautiful, special moments with the Rebbe are displayed there. I take off my hat to JEM.
Someone forgot to note: the woman in the photos is Yossi Melamed’s daughter. She’s accompanied by her husband and children…. And she was moved to tears!
