Rabbi Dovid Fisher, a philanthropist from Crown Heights, recently paid a visit to Beth Rivkah School, where he was moved to witness the vibrant chasidic education and dynamic atmosphere created by the school’s 2,800 students.
During his visit, Rabbi Fisher met with the school’s board to discuss the pressing need for expansion to accommodate the growing demand for quality education. Seeing first hand how every square foot is utilized, it’s heartbreaking that there is not enough space for more girls who want to attend the school.
The board shared their ambitious vision for a new building that will provide critical space to serve more families and improve the educational experience for future generations, while also discussing ways how to make tuition more affordable for our community.
…that the board is thinking about making tuition affordable. Because just a few short years ago, preschool tuition was 7k and now it is 12k. With inflation on the rise, even the people who are not eligible for vouchers are having a difficult time paying. It’s time to address the need, not just talk about it.
Both parents working, making just above the cut for vouchers, is a disaster…
Not to mention the disgusting thing “some” schools do, is that they charge 300$ “registration fee” only to tell you 2 weeks later that they won’t take your kid without vouchers that they come first (easy us government $ for schools) or/even if you pay full tuition which is 23k per kid per year. Nasty.
Some schools (maybe all?) are still charging parents a hefty amount on top of what they’re getting from vouchers!
Lubavitch schools were designed to take all students in, regardless of tuition, and the management’s job was to cover the costs. today, schools expect parents to cover costs. time has changed things.
