There is much hype in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights around COLlive’s Purim Show after famed comedian Mendy Pellin was spotted filming his humorous spoofs in the neighborhood’s stores and streets.
A large ad on a Kingston Avenue bus stop confirmed the rumors that Pellin, a Lubavitch comedian recognized for his video clips, will be the presenter of The Purim Show produced by COLlive.com, the leading Lubavitch community news website.
“We are thrilled to have Mendy on board as our host,” said Yehuda Ceitlin, editor of COLlive.com.
“Mendy has demonstrated unique qualities – and even outrageous at times – as a comic, and that is the spirit we’re looking for on Purim,” Ceitlin said.
Pellin, on his part, commented: “It’s false advertising… That bus stop makes me look fat…”
He added: “But the show’s gonna be a lot of fun to watch!”
The anticipated 30 minute show ended filming on Friday with videographer Yankie Teitelbaum and staff returning home in time for Shabbos.
Pellin, star of a web-based satirical news show called The Mendy Report, has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and was profiled in the New York Times.
The show will be online, G-D willing, on March 9, Purim eve after the reading of the Megilah in New York city.

If that is his talent, let him use it to his fullest, and he is doing it all in a chassidishe kosher way. I’m sure the rebbe would have been fine with it. there is nothing wrong with a little humor and laughter. the Rebbe himself had a sense of humor.
lighten up a little. oh and try laughing sometime. its good for you.
