Hey there, boys and girls! Welcome back to the Parsha Studio – Craft Edition.
Today, we’ll be talking about Parshas Chayei Sarah, where we learn about Yitzchak and Rivkah. When Rivkah entered Sarah Imeinu’s tent, she received the same three miracles as Sarah. The Shechina rested on her tent, her Challah dough stayed fresh from Erev Shabbos until the next Erev Shabbos, and her Shabbos candles remained lit the entire week. Our craft for today will be making a hammered clay candle representing her candle that stayed lit for the entire week.
Do you know what makes the Mitzvah of lighting Shabbos candles so special? Apart from the physical light that shines throughout the home, shabbos candles cast a spiritual light of added brachos into each home.
Can you think of someone who doesn’t yet light Shabbos candles and invite them to do this Mitzvah too?
Today we will be sculpting a beautiful Shabbos Candle. Let your creativity flow as you shape the “hammered” clay into a unique and stunning form. By molding the clay into various divots and painting it with metallic colors, you will create a long-lasting keepsake to cherish and brighten up your Shabbos.
