As the summer school session of The Shmuel Zahavy Cheder Chabad in Toronto drew to an end, Rabbi Boruch Zaltzman, principal, felt it was an opportune time to gather parents for an all important session on parenting.
“Summertime is a wonderful time to reflect on our childrens’ progress over the past school year and seek ways to enhance their chinuch for the future,” he said.
Rabbi Mendel Gluckowsky, Rov and Shliach from Rechovot, Israel, spoke to the spellbound audience for nearly two hours, weaving letters from the Rebbe into very down-to-earth advice on dealing with all stages of child development from early childhood through adolescence and beyond.
He also spoke about street-proofing our kids and dealing with the challenges of modern technology and the Internet. This was followed by a question and answer session where he addressed questions, some of which that had been sent in anonymously in advance.
The audience was diverse from young first time parents, to parents of older bochurim and girls. Rabbi Gluckowsky managed to provide all with some hadracha and inspiration to go home with renewed chizuk and nuggets of advice to continue with their monumentally important task of raising mentshliche and chassidishe children who are a credit to the Rebbe, their families and all of klal Yisroel.
