At Pardes Day School, a Lubavitch school in Miami, students from Kindergarten to 5th grade were given an engaging presentation about the importance of Hatzalah, staying safe, and knowing what to do in emergencies.
Levik Hertzel, a local Hatzalah volunteer and a seasoned wedding photographer, visited the school to share his knowledge and experience with the eager young audience.
Hertzel discussed the vital role Hatzalah plays in ensuring the safety and well-being of the community. He emphasized the importance of knowing the Hatzalah emergency number and encouraged students to memorize it to call for help if needed.
To help students understand the concept of setting boundaries, Hertzel shared some practical tips and advice, such as never sharing personal information with strangers and trusting their instincts when it comes to personal safety. He also stressed the significance of being aware of one’s surroundings and knowing the location of exits in public spaces.
The students were captivated by the various gadgets and equipment used by Hatzalah volunteers. Hertzel demonstrated how to use some of these tools, like an AED, and explained how they help save lives during emergencies. The hands-on approach gave students a deeper appreciation for the work that Hatzalah does in their community.
The interactive session left the children feeling empowered, better equipped to handle emergencies, and more knowledgeable about personal safety. Hatzalah is currently holding its annual Hatzalah-Thon Fundraiser.
