A panel of representatives of the leading kosher supervising organizations in United States will be attempting to respond to kashrus inquiries.
Chabad’s Kollel Erev in Los Angeles is holding the Kashrus Symposium for both men and women on Sunday, 3 Sivan – May 12, from 8:30 PM to 10 PM.
Panelists will include kosher consultant Rabbi Yosef Bodenstein, Rabbi Shaya Eichenblatt, California representative of the Chof-K; Rabbi Reuven Nathanson, Director of the Western Region for OU Kosher; and Rabbi Eliezer Teitelbaum, senior rabbinic coordinator at OK Kosher certification.
Among the topics they are scheduled to discuss: Kashrus with a maid in the house, which vegetables need to be checked and how, is bishul yisroel tuna a scam, trusting a hechsher that certifies cholov akum and what makes a mashgiach tmidi reliable.
The event comes in response to growing interest and concern in the kashrus certification process following the scandal that found uncertified meats at Doheny Glatt Kosher Meat Market in Los Angeles.
Rabbi Shimon Raichik, Rov of Congregation Levi Yitzchok which hosts the kollel at its location on 356 North La Brea Avenue, has recently spent an evening discussing kashrus matters, leaving many asking for more.
The panel on Sunday will also be taking questions from the crowd, as well as questions sent in advance to [email protected] (must be sent prior to Sunday 3 PM).

Lets alert woman who leave their housekeepers in charge of their kitchen, that they have a problem in their own kitchen….
that seems to be the story with KSA
the way the story is floating around, they couldn’t come to terms on the sale, but thru the process of OU’s research, KSA realized they better straighten out their shop, and they have done a good job doing it.
so only when they are considering to sell their company are they willing to “clean up their hechsher”??
Rabbi Bodenstein is an independent consultant on kashrus.
the KSA contracted with him to clean up their hechsher when they were considering a buyout offer from the OU.
he is not their employee
we are hoping to post it on youtube tomorrow
