Crown Heights Chaverim thanked their volunteer ‘street saviors’ this year with a rooftop BBQ appreciation event.
Chaverim has been growing in the Crown Heights community over the past 5 years. From boosting cars or changing flat tires to removing trees that have fallen after storms and assisting with floods Chaverim has always been there to help.
This year’s they added a Heater Gemach for families that need emergency heat in the winter, or the “Look before you lock“ Campaign to remind parents not to leave their child in the car, Chaverim has grown and become an essential part of the community.
To date, Chaverim has responded to over 2,500 calls ranging from boosts, flat tire, house lockouts and car lockouts, ran out of gas, fallen trees and much much more.
Words of inspiration and gratitude were given by Rabbi Shmuly Turk followed by a kumzitz with Zalmy Schriber.
“When someone is on the way to a doctor’s appointment or the airport, and they get into their car and it doesn’t start, or they have a flat tire, they know they can rely on Chaverim to respond” said CH Chaverim Founder Rabbi Yanky Prager.
The event was made possible thanks to
Bespoke towing, Wine by the case, Chony Milecki, Grüit Garden And Eatery, 321 Motion, The Aliya Institute & CH Butcher.

Wonderful dedicated guys – always there when you need them !
Bless them !!
No masks, no social distancing but the problem is the outsiders, the guests, the bochurim. A friend just told me he was in ch, the parties the hugging kissing are going as strong as ever, all under the umbrella ” we already had the virus.” Which their is absolutely no scientific study that says one cannot get it again.
Every other pic on collive proves this point……
May Hashem protect all.
He da Best!
