Around 300 people gathered on Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia for a Shacharis Minyan on Friday morning.
With many fearful of going outside due to antisemitic incidents and the threat of a ‘day of hate,’ the group gathered to proudly pray for the safety of Israel and the Jewish people.
The outdoor shacharis prayer was organized by Sydney-based activist Dovi Meyer, a result of a WhatsApp group he created to encourage the putting on Tefillin in the merit of Israel. Rabbi Levi Wolff, leader of the Central Shul in Sydney, blew the Shofar, and those gathered joined in song together.
“All of us know someone in our Homeland who has been directly affected by the attack on our people,” Meyer said. “Many of us have Parents and Grandparents who fought for Israel’s existence.
Many of us will stand here on Bondi Beach today as children and grandchildren of Holocaust survivors.
“We must never be afraid to be proud of our Jewish identity. The physical protection of our Homeland we are not directly in today, but the spiritual force that we can provide is unlimited. We can still fight for and pray hard for the safety of Am Yisrael and our soldiers defending our nation,” Meyer said.

Am Yisrael chai!
