South African born singer and composer Zalman Levy, who was a finalist of “A Jewish Star” 2011, spent Rosh Hashana at Chabad of Palmetto Bay, a suburb in Miami-Dade County, Florida.
Although the Shliach Rabbi Zalman Gansburg wrote on the invitations to his community that Levy was the winner of the popular Jewish singing contest, congregants surely would have voted for him after hearing his tefilos.
“This is the time of year when we are aroused with a profound sense of anticipation for the sacred moments of the Yomin Norayim,” says Levy.
And for those who may feel that they may have missed the Elul ‘bus,’ often it can be just a song that trigers ones sense of his’orerus, Levy offers a cover version for “Haneshama Lach” by Eitan Katz.
