An initiative has been launched to encourage Jewish women and girls to light Shabbos candles this Friday night in memory of Shiri, Ariel and Kfir Bibas HYD who were murdered while in captivity by Hamas in Gaza.
This Friday, all who are heading out on Mivtzoim are invited to pick up orange roses and Neshek kits at a stand which will be set up on the corner of Eastern Parkway and Kingston Avenue from 12 PM.
The orange color has become a symbol of solidarity with the Bibas family, inspired by the bright red hair of the two youngest of the hostages.
“We want to distribute the roses along with the candles, to honor their memories and spread light to the world during this dark time,” organizers said.
The roses can be distributed along with the Shabbos candles, and will include a card encouraging to light candles in memory of the Bibas family.
