“Twin Divers” is a new story-coloring book for children ages 5 and up, written in order to explain the point of “open your eyes” which the Rebbe strongly stressed, through a story adapted especially for children of that age.
The book was originally to be released for Chof Ches Nissan, but was not ready due to technical reasons.
The story is a about two adventurous twins who set out on an innocent looking boat ride. What they don’t realize is that their father has an out-of-this-world scuba diving trip in store for them.
The twins are soon amazed to see that the water, which just moments before seemed so calm and dull, is in reality bustling with life and activity.
Their father then explains to them a most important lesson we can learn from this; that the world, which now hides G-d’s existence, is in reality filled with His presence. We just need to “open our eyes”. This, he tells them, will only be fully understood when Moshiach comes.
The author is a COLlive fan, who says he feels privileged to have the opportunity to bring this important message that the Rebbe spoke about so many times. “I think it is very important that we do more to bring this idea down to a level that even a 5 year old can understand. The truth is, until then it’s difficult to say we truly understand it ourselves,” he said.
“The many hours it took to write and edit the story, as well as design the pictures, were spent for the purpose of doing my part to “do all we can” in order to bring Moshiach.”
“Depending on how the book is received I may go ahead to make a full-color story book illustrated by a well known artist with whom I’m already in touch. We’ll have to wait and see. In any event, that is at least a few months away.”
For now, the book is available free for download here.
Chaim and Tzvi were identical twin brothers.
They were the best team of helpers
the island of Watersplash has ever seen!
With their sister’s Bas Mitzvah just hours away,
Boy did the twins have a crazy busy day!
There were vegetables to be cut and some to be grated,
There were tables to be set and balloons to be inflated.
After spending the day setting up the dining room
Tatty promised he’d take them on uncle Yitzy’s pontoon.
With a pull and a tug, the engine gave a roar,
Sending splashes of water, on the seats and the floor.
Their little island was looking smaller and smaller
They were soon surrounded by just waves and water.
“Were soooooo bored”, cried Chaim and Tzvi,
“This trip is no fun, there’s nothing to see”.
“Come”, said Tatty, “I have a surprise
What I have in this box should open your eyes”.
“What’s inside,” wondered Chaim?! “Not glasses, I hope”
“Maybe,” thought Tzvi, “it’s a giant telescope!”
Tatty opened the box to show what was inside
The twins were so excited their mouths open wide
”Wow! Two matching wet-suits with bright orange zippers
Along with a set of goggles and flippers!
Yay! Scuba diving this was our dream for quite a while”.
“You deserve it”, said Tatty, “for always helping with a smile”.
“But Tatty, who will teach us to be scuba divers?”
“Captain Mo will, he’s one of our drivers”.
“Get ready,” said Tatty, “you’ll have the time of your lives
You’ll see what I mean this will open your eyes!”
“Ok,” said Captain Mo, “we’ll be under in a flash”
As the three of them dove in, splash, splash, splash.
Under the water a new world could be seen
There were schools of fish, blue, red and green
They saw fish with noses, some even had teeth
They even got a chance to see a coral reef!
There were fish in all shapes, some swam fast, some swam slow.
Who would ever believe there’s a whole world down below?
“Ok”, said Captain Mo as they passed a giant shark
“It’s time to go back up, it’s already getting dark.”
They started heading home with the setting of the sun.
“Thanks a million”, said the twins, “that was so much fun.”
Tatty’s smile was big as the boat began to turn
“It’s more than just fun, there’s a lesson we can learn.
When today’s trip started, Chaim and Tzvi,
You both felt so bored and had nothing to see,
But after diving in, I’m sure you both understand,
There’s an unseen world below like the one on dry land.
The same is true for these dark Galus days,
When we can’t see Hashem, or understand His hidden ways.
But when Moshiach will come, the whole world will realize,
That all we had to do is open up are eyes.
We will all understand, it will be clear as day,
That Hashem fills the world in a very hidden way.
And everything that happens, no matter where or when,
Is all being done by no one but Hashem.
Our Novi Yeshayah said the day will arrive,
When the world will understand, and open its eyes.
Hashem fills the world — everyone will know
Like the water covers the sea-world below.”
“But Tatty, who will teach us” asked Chaim and Tzvi
“To open our eyes so we’ll all start to see?”
“Moshiach”, answered Tatty, “will teach and explain
The knowledge of Hashem may he come now, Amen!”
what great work. thanks for taking th time to do it and sharing with us all.
A good example is actually the subject at hand; children’s books. 99% of them are written by us women. (although this one seems to be written by a guy) i think being more productive instead of writing op-ed’s is what gives us powa. in reality all the potential is there.
I agree-
Chabad women are self-confident powerhouses who make amazing positive impact on this Dirah B’Tachtonim
Three Cheers for us
We want Moshiach NOW
Three Cheers for the producers of this book too
it’s a lovely and educational and important read
I think the guy made a good point, Chasidus does take a mature mind to properly comprehend its depth.
However i agree with you that children can understand it to a certain degree. its like planting a seed in a young mind so that they will better understand it when they grow up.
A Shliach for youth education.
great job teaching a very important chassidic teaching to children. wonderful work.
Todah….Thanks…Adank…..Danke….Spasiba…..Gracias…..
Beautiful 🙂
Thank You! educational. fun and FREE. how often are those three words put in the same sentence.
thank you for your time and effort in making something wholesome, educational and fun for our children. I guess it isn’t all about money or recognition for some people. very impressed that you would put so much work into something and not even charge let alone take credit for it. lubavitch educational system needs more people like you. hasher coach. very cute poem/story with wonderful and important message that children can easily learn when taught in the right manner like you did.
you can tell that a lot of work was put into it. thanks for caring so much about the chassidishkeit of our dear children. keep up the amazing work
Children are often underestimated. They have the keen ability to grasp various concepts if they are brought out in the correct way. Children are very smart and have amazing emunah. With all due respect to you, I feel that you perhaps might be lacking in emunah and therefore can not understand how it can be taught to children. But believe me, children are like sponges that absorb everything they hear and see that is why we must be so careful with their surroundings at all times. There is a reason why Hashem chose the children as guarantors that the Jews… Read more »
read comment #44
chassidus not being taught to kids?????
wherever did you get that idea???????
everything can be taught to kids,
in the right way!
i think this aspect of moshiach coming is too aloof for the understanding of children.
y don’t you better write a book like “what will happen when moshiach comes” by adel leibovich which brings out moshiach on a level that kids could understand, you know no war no sickness candies and so on. there is a reason chasidus is not taught to children.
just finished reading/explaining this to my young children and the were actually able to grasp the concept well thanks to your story and photos. Thanks for doing this. Looking forward to more.
excellent work. I agree with 42; amazing that you took the initiative to do this, it’s really beautiful. Everyone always gets better the more experience they have with writing etc. I can only imagine how unbelievable your future work will be cuz this is already super wonderful. Keep up the amazing work. Yasher Koach
thank you for doing something in the first place
i think my main comment should be:
“hama’ase hu ha’ikar”
many of us talk about how we should do something about this….
YOU actually did. There are lots of good points brought up by some comments. Would love to see the final edition. Why don’t you do the same thing again once you revise a bit and before you print it and get some more feedback. thank you, your actions are appreciated
do you think that there is a place in the book to remind the reader that even until the second that Moshiach comes we should begin practicing this “open up our eyes” specifically by trying to see further and deeper than what things appear to be…not sure
I would love to see more details about the time beneath the “surface”. It can be used both as a short science lesson about specific nifloois haboireh and a bit about how they live (not too much becuase then the reader would get sidetracked) and then maybe towards the end more specific examples can be given about which type of things will be revealed when Moshiach comes
maybe he’s fishing and relaxing
he’s having his own time out 🙂
it would make the story so much better. also i agree with u guys, the part under water is too short. its the best part.
This is a great teaching tool! I will iy”h be reading this to my students and siblings! Thank you for this. I would definitely be interested in buying this as a full color story book if it would come out. The only Chisaron to the coloring book was the pictures seemed to be copied from other sources, but it was put together nicely. Thanks again for this!!!!!!
thanks for offering a fabulous read. my kids loved it and we even began discussing many other G-dly things that enrich our lives! They even enjoyed coloring the precious “read”! Hope this gets published for many others out there and you continue creating these important venues for us. Much success!
my kids love it but i don’t know the first thing about the computer which boton do i hit to print this thing? anyone! help
i don’t think it has anything to do with woman power (i think woman have a lot of power regardless especially in chabad) i think its more of a nice way to open up a story just as you would say “many years ago in a far away place” and so on in short evry story needs to begin somewhere
Great work. Thanks for taking the initiative. More like this is needed!!! For adults perhaps even more!
i agree the pictures need to be raved up a bit, an that’s exactly why i cant wait till this comes out in stores with a professional artist so that the pics will be picture perfect lol
marc lumer is a great artist for kids books and would surely make this great book even greater!
hope to see it soon in stores
thats a good point you make
powa to da woman

They were helping for their sister’s bas mitzvah. Is there a problem with that they could have been helping with st else or doing anything else but then you would prob say what that has to do with it the beg part is a mashal just a story to help bring out the point
i don’t know about other places, but my daughters school here in CH can definitely add in the amount of chayus given to her in this area and bichlal in hishkashrus to the Rebbe and Jewish and chassidic pride, especially in the early and mid years of elementary school
hi. really like your book. texts and pics. the twins do have monotonous faces though, perhaps liven them up a bit with bigger eyes, cute smile, something like Norman Nodel’s Laibel and Yossi drawings, you want them to have character so that they attract the kids and of course us adults too 🙂 lots of luck,
i don’t get u u never read a book before? that’s how books are they have some unimportant details to make the story more rich.
in this case however i think its actually important to bring the bas mitzvah part in so that Little girls reading this book can better identify with the story
to #21, I’m assuming that they are just trying to start with some type of setting to introduce these kids, perhaps though there should be a more emphasis on the “under the water” part and the lessons we learn from it (#15) so that the Bas Mitzvah part will then seem what it is, probably just a real-life style setting for the beginning of the story
if the author really wants to publish this maybe they should give an e-mail address where people can send their feedback. complimenting what they do like and also giving constructive, postive criticism, if any
what does their sisters bas mitzvah have to do with anything??
other then that i think its nice,
btw im a critic so take it from me
Thank you for making learning chassidus so fun and easily understandable. You hard work has really paid off. Very much appreciated
What amazing work! Working in chinuch myself, it is not every day that you come across such a thing where someone is truly devoted to the rebbes work. You can easily see how much time and effort you put into this and you your sole purpose was to educate our youth about the rebbes
holy teachings. The fact that someone would do this without looking for recognition or profit is truly not something you see every day. Truly impressed. Keep up the amazing, outstanding work. Wow!
rly impressive and inspiring!
It “opened my eyes” in a concrete way, I’m sure my kids will love it. Can’t wait for the book form.
Thank you, whoever you are!
It’s beautiful, Thank you for sharing your talents. Keep it up.
buddy its available for free download y would u want to buy it??
is there a way we can contact u????
would love to see translations into a few languages once this is tweaked a bit and finalized. I’m sure it would be welcome.
wonderful job.kol hakavod
thank you for your beautiful work. I think that one more stanza about what they saw under water or their time there would help bring out the point even more clearly. As I read the story, I found myself thinking that, that part was so exciting but over really quickly. At the end it is one of the main point of the lesson. just saying…thank you again for doing this and giving out for free,
we need more stuff like this
being that most of us can use this as much as our kids perhaps add a list of questions or bits of information that one can discuss with their children before, during or after they read this, For example the new safety book put out last year how something like this in the back of the book. hatzlacha
Where can I buy this?
About time a child can grasp a popular chassisiahe concept we’ve heard from the rebbe for years time and time again
who did this??? must have a very deep understanding in chasidus as well as a good grip on the dynamics of a child’s mind. i don’t know any such people! truly a gift u belong in chinuch whoever you are
thanks
a concerned parent
amazing that someone would give away such quality work for free! I would easily pay money for this!
children listen and absorb stories more deeply than when just being told something. This is a very powerfull way to spread the Rebbe’s words. In addition, children aren’t blinded by the world like adults may be and take these lessons very to heart, living them to the fullest. Thank you for taking the time to invest in our children!
im sure this book will be a great source of enjoyment for the children and an even greater source of nachas to our Rebbe
very creative indeed
THANK YOU! to whomever did this.
It is not only beautifully done, but as a freebie! Certainly this is a sign that Moshiach tzeiten is here!
Thank you so much for sharing and the time and effort you put into it. I will definitely print a copy out for each of my children so they can better learn about this chassidic concept that is not so often learned in schools even at an older age.
brings the text much more to life
impressive
amazing that this is being given to the children free of charge
surely many hours went into this
thank you author and thank you illustrator for this special and crucial project
may Hashem bentch you with many blessings
I will print this out and read it to my children and then let them color it
perhaps I will show them pictures of real coral reefs so that they will see just how colorful they are before they color in the pages
thank you for sharing
Well written and makes this more abstract concept more tangible for children. Kol hakavod for all the hours you put into making it and even more so that you shared it with us all for free. Very impressive. Looking forward to seeing more work from you.
Yashar Koach, great book!
