Students of Online Smicha participated in an “Online Kinus Torah” with Rabbi Ezra Schochet, the beloved Rosh Yeshiva at Yeshivas Ohr Elchonon Chabad in Los Angeles.
Popularly known as “The Rosh” by his thousands of students, Rabbi Schochet led an in-depth shiur about the mitzvah of Sefiras HaOmer, citing the Alter Rebbe’s Shulchan Aruch, among a variety of other sources and opinions. Rabbi Schochet, a renowned Torah scholar, led the kinus on Tuesday evening, 18 Nissan Chol HaMoed Pesach – 4th Day of the Omer.
In addition to a minyan of students who were logged in from various places around the world, the shiur was also open and made available to dozens of guests who watched and listened from host computers logged in by existing students from Hawaii to Israel to Canada and the US.
A first of its kind, pioneering approach to the study of halacha, Online Smicha enables students to login to a unified “beis medrash” or “live classroom” from anywhere in the world, 2-3 times per week for interactive professionally prepared shiurim complete with colored coded charts and more. In addition to the outstanding shiurim and presentations given by Rabbi Wilhelm, Dean of the program, Online Smicha regularly provides its students with special guest shiurim and online learning opportunities from well-known poskim and Torah personalities. Special online shiurim by guest Rabbonim have recently included Rabbi Yosef Feigelstock of Argentina and Rabbi Yekusiel Farkash, author of Shabbos Kehalachah, among others.
