CROWN HEIGHTS — After two years of construction, apartments in the eight-story building at the corner of Eastern Parkway and Franklin Avenue will start renting in July, a leasing agent for the building said.
Studio apartments at 341 Eastern Parkway, or 341EPW, will start at $2,200, according to aptsandlofts.com, which is handling leasing. One-bedrooms will set renters back at least $2,700 per month, and two-bedrooms are priced starting at $3,700 per month.
A handful of the building’s 63 units are “penthouse duplexes,” which will run at least $3,800 per month. News of the rental prices was first reported by Curbed.
Interest in the building from developer and owner Bluejay Management “has been simply staggering,” aptsandlofts.com president David Maundrell said.
“That’s what you get when you combine contextual architecture with direct access to Manhattan via four subway lines at your front door,” he said, calling the building’s immediate neighborhood “one the most exciting areas of Brooklyn.”

Ver darf ess hubb’n? I’m still unabashedly Jewish enough to use that old measuring yard: “Is it good for the Jews or bad for the Jews?” I fail to see how the Lubavitcher community in Crown Heights stands to benefit from this. So it’s pretty to look at, so what? So are plenty of other sites in this city. One gets the feeling from a few of of the comments that some folks feel this somehow validates our shchunah. Heck, I certainly don’t need this in order to feel pride in my shchunah; the Rebbe did that for us years… Read more »
“architecture with direct access to Manhattan via four subway lines”
Someone rich enough to pay $3700 a month for rent would think it’s a plus to ride the dirty subway.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAA!
To #62
Totally agree.
Does anyone realize this is a brand new building with amenities, and doorman? Not too expensive at all!
I hope there will be a doorman there at least
Just because the building is in crown heights it doesn’t mean the apartments have to be cheap! Apartments in Manhattan are way smaller and way more expensive!
What does this have to do with anything?! Not only rabbis and jewish people will live there, also non Jews
not everyone makes a 6 figure a year salary, some of us are just happy to be working, and we have other priorities in life not just rent
Its not about complaining its about priorities its amazing what we will spend money on? When it comes to chinuch we all want breaks do Rebbis and teachers dont deserve to get a pay check? what is this world coming to?
Wow if you can afford it great but dont kvetch when you have to pay tuition most of us dont make 6 digits were are our priorities ?
You can add Maplewood NJ to the list: centrally located, 22 minutes by express rain to midtown Manhattan, 2 Chabad Shuls, 5 mikvaos in vicinity, good real estate prices & rents, etc.. etc…
The buildings apartments are beautiful and the views are absolutely stunning! That’s why it’s expensive. There is a huge Starbucks at the bottom and a huge bank. Don’t complain, no one is forcing anyone to live there!
beautiful green suburban frum neighborhood, day school tuition subsidized by state of OH, growing Chabad community, lovely 4 BR home on large green lot for 150K and up, Chabad mesitva and zal…… high quality of life
great community, warm people, Chabad school. only 2.5 hours from NY. welcome!
I’m thinking that if someone is selling, it will be good for them, as this means that real estate is up. However, it is really sad that this is what Crown Heights is doing to the young couples and anyone needing a place to live.
hey boro park is cheeper
I don’t know where you are getting your information from, but that is far from the truth.
not sure what the outrage is about?anybody forcing you to move in?in fact unless you make a big multiple of the rent, they will not rent to you!
btw, remember 20 years ago that nobody but ghetto would even dream of living there?we’ve come far
this is not good, it will hike up the rents sooner or later in the Jewish areas too which is already happening way too fast. No we should not move out, work -yes, do all you can, but stay in the shuchuna. It’s not so easy to just move to the burbs. We have jobs and are tied to NY. Tuition lower???? Idk about that? Have you ever seen NJ tuition, Monsey tuition? It’s no better……
You can still buy a three bedroom house on 1/3 of an acre with a garage for $100,000. Great schools, all the kosher amenities. One hour flight from NYC. Plenty of jobs in all markets
Are there areas where housing is reasonable and the shul him don’t mind regular folk moving in? Some shluchim are very territorial and non welcoming to regular lubavitchers moving in. Would love to know this as we are seriously looking to move and prefer to move to a place that has structure. We are being priced out of Crown heights . Whoever suggested making more money should be very happy that they are blessed with the ability to make money at whim. Reality is that having a large family in Crown heights is more than many many can afford. The… Read more »
No. Clearly you think Crown Heights is only from Eastern Parkway to Empire. Ignorance is becoming of you.
Crown hieghts is kon civa Hashem Es habracha
They keep moving closer to crownheigts. satmar and lubavitch should come together. Make one frum community friom williamsburg streching through bedford all the way to crown heights.
It is a pity that us Lubav. brothers and siters have to squish into small apartments with no access to a back yard, non clean lobbys, creepy crawlers and all, let alone not even enough closets because the rents are so high they can’t afford better.
Sounds your state of mind needs a little work. Maybe that’ll also help you to be a little more successful at your job- personality can be the difference between success and failure. Feel better.
Rumor has it Starbucks is pursuing the building and planing a large store no wonder there’s a waiting list for the apartments. Building is stunning makes the parkway look different.
Dear Mr #33 even if the average household was earning in the six figures a minimum of $100k a year with six children the cost of housing larger than a two (rent as is being discussed) would be at least $3k monthly plus tuition and basic living expenses such as car, food, utilities and let’s not forget camps would make it hard to get by even with a decent education/job/career. The real question we need to ask our self is if the lifestyle of a frum Jewish family is attainable in ch given the real changes coming to the housing… Read more »
There are many shluchim living in suburbs everywhere with affordable housing, and even with starting preschools .. u can move, and shluchim would want u to move next to them and everyone benefits
Gorgeous building! Lots of luck!
Amazing young anash! Large Chabad school. Very affordable. Housing starts in the 175s to 400.
Nice to see a voice of reason here.
it is unfortunate that too many chasidim learn only to daven but not to work. a broader education would make it possible to work at jobs that pay sufficiently to make it possible to live in a high-priced apartment. work is the solution, begging is not.
Lol- i agree- and not a lubav either! And yes, we lubavs do look up to the Rebbe in every area of life- and proudly so!
I don’t seem to understand the big fuss about this building . It’s clearly not for the average crown heightser , it was made for all the new white people moving into town who are MORE THAN WILLING To pay the right price . I think it was a brilliant idea to Invest in this building . Whoever had any negative to say it is because you’re jealous .
Buffalo is a Great place to live you can buy a 4 bedroom house for about $150000 that’s about a $1000.00 mortgage payment it has a great school with affordable tuition and most of all great safe neighborhoods.
Think how much it costed to buy the place, then start judging how much rent they should charge.
Business is business…. Start moving to maple and Troy.
best!!
Not everyone has a rich father. Do you honestly think people don’t want to make more money?
Start making more money people
You totally sound like a landlord, just saying!
Ppl will eventually stop living in CH!! Its so crazy expansive!!!!
You guys are too funny. Why do you have to bash the rent? If people can afford the rent, then by all means, they have the market to whom they can rent to. You dont have to bring the Rebbe in every conversation there is. Just because the Holy Rabbi said something about rent, doesnt mean that it pertains to everything. IN ADDITION, dont you all have that saying About living with the times? so if rent is high, its high! have you ever thought about the owner of the building?? has anyone thought of how much he has to… Read more »
In a few few years one bedroom appartments in CH will cost $2000 per month! Sadly, no one has controll over the landlords in CH, every year they hike up $50.
Umm… were u looking at a map when u drew up those imaginary borders and neighboring neighborhoods?? Hmm
It’s one mile out of Jewish Crown Heights. But nevertheless it’s a good story.
Crown Heights is bounded by Washington Avenue (to the west), Atlantic Avenue (to the north), Ralph Avenue (to the east) and Empire Boulevard/East New York Avenue (to the south). It is about 1 mile (1.6 km) wide and 2 miles (3.2 km) long. Neighborhoods bordering Crown Heights include Prospect Heights to the west, Flatbush to the south, Brownsville to the east, and Bedford-Stuyvesant to the north.
This isnt even in frum crown heights so wat is the issue ? Thats Franklin & Eastern Pkwy, the frum area goes till Nostrand really. & who says u have 2 live there thats another thing. Dont move there
Definitely the Crown Heights will change the face one day ….when the Rich comes to the poor , the last escapes far far away …..Jews, Libavitch need to invest in there own community and find the way to attract young families to stay in CH …look around , many old buildings under construction and the price will be the same …one day …
it’s late but would like to think it’s never too late. this all happened as a result of the friction (using a kind word – rather than say war) that was waged against a man that was instructed by the Rebbe to rebuild the schuna. Unfortunately there will always be people who are incapable of accepting another persons success so jealousy destroyed so much. This destruction and void that followed allowed for the present situation. The average mishpacha simply cannot afford to purchase a place to live and this will force people to leave. These very families that are going… Read more »
As hassidim we don’t comprise, lets keep our feet in crown heights, this is the Rebbe’s neighborhood, our home , lets not have other groups and cost keep us away from what is ours let get together and rid of this problem and only have growth of yiddishkeit to grow and spread in crown heights to the World
Who’s building is it?
Why is this a crown heights story. This building is not for crown heights residents. I went on the company website it says their not accepting anymore applicants there are 2000 people on a waiting list
@Bad Choice
Or anybody else.
Can you please provide a precise source for that (or anything like that).
I don’t dispute it but would need to see or hear something like that in print.
Move! There are communities where you can actually afford a house with a back yard, where kids can safely play outdoors, where tuition rates are less prohibitive … there’s little reason to stay in the ghetto anymore.
Perhaps we should show more appreciation to the people who do build for Lubavitchers, such as Drizin and Fischer.
AGREED!!!
Monsey is a good place

I think it was on 9 Tammuz, 5715, that the Rebbe spoke about how those who charge high rent in Crown Heights are using their koa’ch ha’atzmus, which is the source of their bechira chofshis, for evil. I have it on tape. The Rebbe also says that it accomplishes the opposite of “kiruv rechokim.” (Those were his exact words.) I myself, though a fully practicing member of anash, was forced by the high rents to move out of Crown Heights to a different frum neighborhood. It is unfortunate, but the material improvements over what I experienced in Crown Heights, have… Read more »
Money + Need = No Brains
Thank g-d the Lubavitcher investors are making it out here. The satmars are all over the neighberhood
that area is as exciting as Fulton and Atlantic. As exciting as the West indian day parade on Labor Day. As exciting as Rochester Park after dark (ok, maybe not). Keep your excitement.
the building is meant for anyone that can afford it
but the building is obviously not meant for your average crown heights lubavitcher…
Totally nuts!
