Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces political uncertainty following his failure to form a governing coalition last month.
Netanyahu, who has led Israel for the past decade, was forced to announce national elections just 2 months after the country’s residents voted.
AP notes that the turmoil looks to complicate Netanyahu’s legal standing with Israel’s attorney general considering criminal charges against him in corruption cases. Netanyahu claims innocence.
On this day, Netanyahu might find comfort in the words of a letter that the Rebbe wrote to him exactly 31 years ago on Rosh Chodesh Sivan 5748 (1988).
In the letter, the Rebbe refers to Netanyahu with that titles “one who deals with the affairs of the public, including and especially the defense on issues of Eretz Yisroel.”
Netanyahu was serving as Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, a post that has put him in the spotlight for his oratory skills. Netanyahu has notified the Rebbe about his intentions to enter politics in Israel.
“May you immigration to the land be a rise in all aspects,” the Rebbe blessed him. “And to continue in utilizing his talents and the possibilities.”
As the holiday of Shavuos was coming up, the Rebbe blessed him with the traditional greeting of “receiving the Torah with joy and internalization.”
Moshiach now !
