Dear Friends,
Today, Chof Beis Shevat, is the yahrzeit of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka, wife of the Rebbe זי״ע.
On this day, in 5748/1988, the Rebbe returned from the funeral of his Rebbetzin of 60 years, he davened Mincha and said Kaddish in their home on President Street, in Brooklyn; the Rebbe’s profound sadness was palpable to everyone present.
That afternoon, on the second floor of his home, the Rebbe directed me to establish a charitable foundation in memory of the Rebbetzin. This special fund would serve as an everlasting testament to her life.
The Rebbe named the fund: Keren HACHOMESH, an acronym for “Harabbanis Chaya Mushka Schneerson,” serving a variety of causes, primarily educational and social services, for women and girls.
On the Rebbetzin’s second yahrzeit, the Rebbe requested everyone give to tzedaka in her memory, preferably in amounts equivalent to the numerical value of the name Chaya Mushka – 470.
As a fund that holds profound personal significance to the Rebbe, the participation in its efforts is indeed a privilege and honor.
Today, as we mark the Rebbetzin’s 36th yahrzeit, join us in our matching funds campaign, to raise $470,000.00 to benefit the Rebbe’s special foundation on behalf of Jewish women and girls.
During the last 12 months, thanks to the generosity of donors like you, Keren Hachomesh allocated:
427 grants to single mothers raising their families so they can live with dignity,
233 grants for brides in need allowing them to celebrate with peace of mind,
13 organizations assisted in their vital work on behalf of Jewish women and girls,
6 women’s mikvahs completed/renovated ensuring the continuity of our people.
Click here to join the Rebbe’s call of the day, by donating to Keren Hachomesh in amounts of 470.
Very truly,
Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky,
Keren Hachomesh
