The OK Kosher Certification has issued a Kashrus alert for cashews on Sunday, January 16, 2022.
The alert is for all cashews, including raw, roasted, salted, and unsalted.
The notice says that various insects and worms have been found in cashews.
The full notice reads:
The OK Kosher Tolaim Committee has been finding insects and worms in cashews. Consumers should split them open and give a cursory inspection. The issue is typically found when there are holes.
Consumers should be extra vigilant, they advised.

no nuts for my thanks
If there are no holes in the nut, then that means they were created within the nut and are halachicly “kosher worms”! So enjoy those delicious worms! Bon appetit!!
Don’t be מכשיל את הרבים. If the worms developed inside the nut while it was attached to the tree, then they’re assur to eat.
Enjoy your kosher worms
Forget being careful. Now that u showed this I don’t think I can even look at another one let alone eat them.
“Don’t let me cashew eating any worms!”
I found bugs in cashew nuts years ago.
Yes I’ve always checked cashews and have found worms in the past
Honestly, I think every natural produce of the earth has occasional tiny worms or bugs. I think we need to stop eating all plant-based foods and eat real food like shmaltzy meat and heimishe pastrami sandwiches! Yummmm!
I agree. Any natural product will have occasional issues. Who hasn’t seen a moldy strawberry or a rotten part of an apple? You can find a disgusting picture of any food, especially if it is fresh and natural and comes from outside without lots of processing.
Not an excuse to not eat healthy !!! 🙂 potatoes carrots parsnip celery you ginger you can clean all that
Please show me where the original OK kashrus alert is? I’ve been looking high and low but didn’t find it anywhere.
