OK Approves Quinoa For Pesach

After much consideration and lengthy discussions with leading Poskim, the OK Kosher says that it considers quinoa as non-kitniyos products but says it needs to have a kosher for Pesach certification. Full Story

Great news! I have 2 questions on this:
1. Do the Chabad Rabanim agree with this?
2. Do we still need to sift it with a mesh sifter as per the guidelines that came out in recent months?

You can’t sift Quinoa as you do flour. The grains are to large. It should preferably be done by hand and magnifying glass.

Just look at the alerts from recent months Ie. From the Star-K that has done massive research, they explain which sifter to use. Hand and magnify glass is not a good idea, and not recommended by any mumchim.

Mumchim?

Not simple

Gut voch. This is not a simple issue at all. One needs to speak to their own rov. As the majority of rabonim that I spoke to, (Chabad and otherwise,) hold that it is kitniyos.
Since chabad is generally machmir in most halachic matters especially regarding Pesach, why be permissive on this (not simple) issue?

What about quinoa in Israel, where the packages say “Kosher for Passover for kitniyot eaters only”. This tells me that there is no chametz in it.
What does this mean for ashkenazim?

Ok according to ok

That means that whoever gives hechsher considers it as kitniyos. If you hold like the ok that it’s not kitniyos, then it should be ok to use even for ashkenazim.

This seems misleading

From what I understood, OK is going to give a pesach hechsher to quinoa. That does not mean that we eat it, as there are many things that corporate hechsherim are machshir that we don’t eat, and especially on pesach. In general, there are many products that the OK itself is machshir that we do not eat, such as cholov (akum?) Stam, and many products that are not pas or bishul Yisroel. Speak to your lor
