Last Motzei Shabbos, an Avos Ubonim evening was held at the Ulam Chana Hall in Crown Heights for the talmidim of Ohr Menachem. Special learning booklets were prepared for each grade by their teachers according to their level. The energy in the room was palpable as fathers and sons enjoyed delicious refreshments and bonded over Torah learning.
The program was arranged by Rabbi Chanoch Hecht, a 7th-grade teacher and program director at Ohr Menachem, together with Rabbi Avrohom Reinitz. In attendance was also Rabbi Menachem Yusewitz, the director of the school.
Following the chavrusa learning, the 12 pesukim were recited and a video of the Rebbe was played. As part of their start of learning gemara, a special video presentation was prepared by the 5th-grade class which was shown at the event.
The school has made an emphasis on learning the first 12 chapters of Tanya by heart, awarding prizes to talmidim who participate in the program. At the event, proud talmidim of 4th grade who were recently tested on perek zayin of Tanya were presented with their awards for their great accomplishment.
Rabbi Chanoch Hecht excitedly announced the rapid growth that the mivtza mishnayos ba’al peh has undergone year after year since its inception. With 1,000 Mishnas learned in 5781 to 2,000 in 5782 and a goal of 3,000 for this coming year, the program has created incredible energy and excitement around Torah learning in the school like never before!
Rabbi Yosef Oberlander, an assistant principal, concluded the evening with a raffle for all the attendees which was followed by joyous dancing in honor of the month of Adar.
