Oholei Torah Staff and Families Treated to ‘Latkes Evening’

Oholei Torah School in Crown Heights treated the entire school’s staff and their families to their first-ever “Latkes Ovent” (evening) on the fourth night of Chanukah.

The family-oriented event was inspired by the Hayom Yom which tells how the Rebbeim would gather their families on the 4th or 5th night of Chanukah for a “Latkes Ovent,” where they would distribute Chanukah gelt and tell stories.

Over 600 members of the staff and their families – men, women and children, gathered at the Oholei Torah Zal for a lavish dinner and all you can dream of nosh buffet for the children.

The program began with Divrei Torah, stories and reciting the 12 Pesukim.

The children enjoyed entertainment by clowns and a special show by “Nussi,” Chanukah Gelt, and arts and crafts with light-up gifts for all.

Live music added to the festivities, and participants were inspired by a video presentation highlighting the beauty and privilege of Chinuch.

The energy in the room was electrifying, and the melamdim and their families were so grateful for the beautiful event.

“It was so beautiful to have the opportunity to get together with my colleagues – outside of the classroom setting, in a relaxed and festive environment,” one staff member said.

“The evening was uplifting and fun, and the staff left the event energized…it was Baruch Hashem a tremendous success,” said Rabbi Mendel Blau, Menahel.

“Special thank you to the Board of Directors of Oholei Torah, who continue to trailblaze in raising the bar of Chinuch and the prestige of the Mechanchim,” Rabbi Blau said.

The board gave special thanks to Rabbi Yisroel Cohen, who coordinated the event.
