In a powerful demonstration of community partnership and support, Ohel Children’s & Family Services joined forces with Aliya, a Crown Heights-based Chabad house/drop-in center for youth and young adults, for an inspiring and interactive evening titled “An Evening of Connection, Inspiration, and Joy.”
The event, held on April 3rd at Aliya’s welcoming New York Avenue location, brought together young adults and professionals for an open conversation around trauma, addiction, and the path to healing.
The highlight of the evening was a deeply engaging presentation by two of Ohel’s expert clinicians, Shloimie Rappoport and Mendel Deitsch. They shared clinical insights and practical tools for navigating personal challenges, particularly those related to mental health, trauma, and substance abuse. Their presentation sparked meaningful dialogue and offered attendees a sense of validation, hope, and empowerment.
Live music by Hudi Kowalsky and LMHC and a delicious BBQ by Chef Meir Hahn added warmth and energy to the event, creating a unique blend of ruach and reflection that resonated deeply with the audience.
The event was a night of inspiration and brought awareness to the comprehensive Mental health services Ohel provides to the broader community. Ohel operates a full-service mental health clinic offering:
Individual and group therapy
Psychiatric services
A specialized substance use disorder (SUD) program providing support and treatment for those struggling with addiction.
As well as an early childhood mental health program and special perinatal programs.
Ohel’s team of licensed professionals is committed to supporting individuals and families on their journey to wellness from childhood through adulthood.
As one attendee shared, “It was incredible to see such a safe, judgment-free event created in the heart of our community. This is what healing looks like.”
