Ohayon Sings for Toulouse

Early morning on Monday, March 19, 2012, a teacher and three Jewish children were murdered in front of a Jewish school in Toulouse, France, for being Jewish.

The night before, the Jewish community in Strasbourg were celebrating at a concert to benefit local charitable organizations. Among the performers was Avraham Ohayon, an alum of “A Jewish Star” who has already released his own single.

Like Jewish people around the country and the world, Ohayon was shocked to hear the news and decided to offer his support and make a dedication of his own.

He immediately began composing a song in memory of Rabbi Yonatan Sandler; his children Aryeh, aged 6, and Gabriel, aged 3; and 8 year-old Miriam Monsonego.

Over 25 music professionals agreed to take part in this musical tribute, including musicians, choir singers, technicians, graphic designers, and videographers.

After weeks of recording, a new song named “Aheinu – To Never Forget” was born.

“I and all the participants in this project were very moved by this horrible act of violence and therefore decided to honor the memory of the people who lost their lives,” Ohayon said.

Proceeds of the song will be given to the families of the victims. “It will show them that their Jewish brethren have not, and will not, forget what happened,” Ohayon added.
