With spring-like weather in Brooklyn, a covid safe, masked and socially distanced, crowd gathered to light Brooklyn’s Largest Menorah at Grand Army Plaza.
Joining Rabbi Shimon Hecht and honored with lighting the Shamash candle was NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea. Commissioner Shea, who attended with his wife, was very impressed with the energy, safety and unity this menorah lighting displayed.
Also in attendance was Devorah Halberstam, Honorary Commissioner of the NYPD.
Honored with giving gifts to the children and making the brochos and lighting the three candles was Crown Heights community activist Mr. Yankie Markowitz of SBA Loans.
The menorah is a project of NCFJE’s Chabad of Park Slope.

I must say, even though there was a cherry picker to uplift, Rabbi Shimon Hecht is already a giant of a person!
Since our childhood, he has been a principled Chassid.
His devotion to the Rebbe and his father Rabbi JJ Hecht ob’m are impressive.
May God grant him and his very capable and able, Rebitzen Sarah much Hatzlocha!
