The NYPD 71st Precinct has warned that there will be no tolerance for large gatherings of any kind in Crown Heights until further notice.
The Rabbonim of Crown Heights have banned all davening in a minyan both indoors and outside, and have ruled that all Shuls and Mikvahs be closed.
Detective Vinny Martinos of the 71st Precinct has warned that the NYPD will be enforcing these rules throughout the neighborhood, including in the front of 770 Eastern Parkway, where groups continue to gather, against the CDC requirements and Rabbonim’s letters.
On Thursday, the police broke up a small crowd on Eastern Parkway in front of 770 and forced them to disperse.
“These individuals can be infected, and can be passing along the illness to many other members of the community,” Martinos told COLlive. “People can die because of their actions.”
“It will not be tolerated. We will be making arrests.”
Residents will be allowed to leave home for shopping for essentials, such as groceries and medicine, Martinos said.
“People should make sure not to congregate at all, not for any reason,” he stressed.
I completely agree with this action. I am no figure of authority, but I approve of their actions, both present and future, even if they end up arresting people.
When will we have a minion for people that were sick and recovered and are no longer contagious
you dont get it do you. probably 3-4 months
There are no minyanim. Stop trying to be more Religious then what the Unanimously the Rabbis Ordered.
There’s no proof that you are no longer contagious or immune.
People may congregate in a group of 10! Don’t take away people’s rights!
Rabonim said no minyomin because once they let 10 people, then more come and you end up having people coming closer to the chazan so they can hear better. Which is why even the outdoor minyanim are not allowed anymore. Over shabbos there was a very large crowd, a lot more than 10 people in front of 770. I dont think they are going to arrest anyone who is part of a small group, but they will arrest people when there is a minyan in front of 770 with over 100 people and without even trying to have daled amos… Read more »
The president may be the decision-maker, but he’s not a medical expert. At this severe level of epidemiological spread, it’s dangerous to gather closely in groups not because you might get sick, but because you can get others sick who might die as a result.
NOT ON THE HANDS OF MAN! Have SOME faith people! Be cautious and careful BUT DO NOT TAKE AWAY FAITH!if its meant for a person to pass, they will pass regardless! We do our part by praying and having faith in G-d, let G- d run HIS WORLD!
Then why do you ever go to a doctor? Why do you ever take medicine? Why do you do anything to prevent illness?
they should also consider breaking up large indoor parties, and it’s not only Jewish people doing this.
The national guard was brought first to Manhattan because there are streets there that are much worse…
And saying “it’s not only Jewish people doing this.” Is not an excuse! We are better than that!! We need to get together, start listening to rabonim and doctors, stop thinking we are smarter than halacha (right now the halacha is to daven without a minyan), keep distance from whoever doesn’t live under the same roof as you and lets fight this mageifa together.
Moshiach now! And lets see each other eating the korbon pesach in close quarters in yerushalayim!
Speedily in our days AMEN!!
Because we are making a chilul Hashem. We should be the first to honor and respect life.
PLUS: we in CH are one of the first to actually see first hand how this is literally pikuach nefesh, so we should be the first to comply. Dont people see what’s going on here? In other communities or localities they can’t even comprehend the horror, if they tried. Its inexcusable to see what’s going on and still be part of perpetuating it!!
If they need to arrest people in order to save lives, so be it!
It’s sad that this is even necessary. What’s wrong with our community?
The only problem is you, this is an American problem
At least we can make an effort,! And Have the Kavonah
Please enforce that there is no groups of anyone..
The quicker we follow the rules, the quicker we can get back to daily lives.. This is a sakana and Pekuach Nefesh.. Please don’t be stupid.. People are holding virtual minyan m. That is allowed.. Use ZOOM if you insist on minyamin
Davening together – NOT a minyan just with others out loud
What’s the Address/Code?
people should keep social distance but its not going to work with an Iron fist of government oppression im not going to just give up my civil liberties because of the Fascist Governor of NY.
Where is the protest in them taking our rights away? #ResistTheseNazis

Having just ended my 8th 16 hour shift in as many days, I’m a bit disheartened by some comments/photos in the media and in various comments to articles on this site. I’d like to thank those responders to this article who are aware of the issues and encouraging others to follow guidelines/mandates. To those who look at this as an infringement on personal choices/rights…it is understandable. We aren’t used to these sort of limitations and it can be intimidating/threatening. To those who remind us that G-d has the final say regarding life and death…. I agree. However as a seasoned… Read more »
