A 66-year-old man who was waiting for a Manhattan-bound train at the President Street station in Crown Heights on Sunday afternoon was followed by an unidentified man, police said.
The man then pushed the victim in an unprovoked attack onto the subway tracks, police said.
Other New Yorkers on the platform quickly came to the aid of the man on the tracks and helped him back onto the platform, officials said, and EMS brought the victim to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.
Officials said the attacker fled the station towards Eastern Parkway and is still at large.
The NYPD has released a surveillance photo of a man believed to be connected to the attack.
