A special luncheon was held Thursday in the Jewish Children’s Museum in Crown Heights to honor those who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of The Great Parade this past Lag BaOmer.
Rabbi Shimon Hecht of NCFJE and Rabbi Sholom Ber Baumgarten of Tzivos Hashem thanked the NYPD for their dedication to the event and their support to guarantee the safety of our community and its visitors.
Commanding Officer of Brooklyn South, Chief Joseph Fox, spoke of his pride in being a partner in a day of happiness and unity, and made mention of the Rebbe.
With the Rebbe’s secretary Rabbi Binyomin Klein seated nearby, Chief Fox emphasized how Lag Baomer parades were something he cherished.
After a resounding applause and a standing ovation, the NYPD officers in attendance received a token of appreciation from the parade committee, as did the many volunteers.
71st Precinct’s Inspector Peter Simonetti even got a bear hug from Tzivos Hashem’s Rabbi Shimmy Weinbaum.
A full color commemorative book about the parade was distributed to all participants.
A full page in the booklet read: “Thanks to COLlive.com, hundreds of thousands of men, women and children around the world participated in The Great Parade via the live stream.”
