NYPD Sergeant Mike Baratta, who served in the Crown Heights neighborhood as the Community Affairs Detective for the 71st Precinct for many years, will be returning to the 71st this week, COLlive has learned.
Baratta has recently received the promotion to the rank of Sergeant.
He will be returning to the 71 Precinct, which services the southern portion of Crown Heights, Wingate, and Prospect Lefferts, in the same role, leading the community affairs division in the Crown Heights neighborhood.
Baratta has become a regular figure in the community in recent years, as he assists in the many events, holidays and special days that take place in Crown Heights, home to the Chabad community and the central location which hosts hundreds of events and accommodates tens of thousands of guests throughout the year.
“It is wonderful news that the newly minted Sergeant Michael Barrata will be back at the 71st precinct,” said NYPD Honorary Commissioner and Community Liaison Devorah Halberstam. “Especially with the important holidays approaching of Purim, Yud Alef Nissan and Pesach. He is family coming back home.”
